About Schmidt Brothers

Schmidt Bros., Inc. was established as a grain, vegetable and livestock operation in 1937 by Lawrence and Hilda Schmidt. In 1941, Robert and Paul Schmidt continued the business. Today there are 6 managing partners, 22 full-time employees, and 60 seasonal employees.

The 12 acres of greenhouses are part of a 700 acre farm. In 1951, we built the first greenhouse to grow transplants for our outdoor vegetable operation. In 1961, we started growing bedding plants. Today we wholesale bedding plants, mums, hanging baskets, patio planters, fall pansies, poinsettias, field corn, soybeans and pumpkins.
